The short version

You can play without an account, and everything about your games stays in your own browser. We only run cookie-based analytics if you press Accept on the cookie banner. We also count anonymous, cookieless play time (no identifiers of any kind) to learn which languages and puzzle types people play. If you press Decline, the site works exactly the same. The only personal data we ever hold is an email address, and only if you ask for the daily puzzle email.

Data stored in your browser

Sudoku Rise uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your current puzzle, settings such as theme and notes mode, your streaks, personal bests, achievements, statistics, and your cookie choice. This data never leaves your device unless you export it yourself from the stats page. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and languages are used, so we can improve the site. It is configured with Google Consent Mode v2. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, all consent signals default to denied and no analytics cookies are set until you accept the banner. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and pressing Decline on the banner switches it off; your choice is remembered in your browser either way. If analytics is on, Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your anonymised IP address, pages viewed and game events (puzzle started, puzzle completed). Google's handling of this data is described in Google's privacy policy.

Play-time measurement

To learn which languages and puzzle types people actually play, the game sends a tiny, anonymous event when you start a puzzle, when you leave or hide the tab, and when you finish. It contains only: the event kind (start, progress or complete), the interface language, the puzzle variant (classic, killer, X, mini or kids), the difficulty, the number of seconds played since the previous event, and how many hints and errors were used. It also says how the visit arrived (for example "search engine", "advert" or "direct", taken from the address you landed on or the site that linked here, and kept only for the current tab), whether this browser had played on an earlier day (from a first-play date stored in your browser, which is just a date shared by everyone who started that day), and whether the game runs as an installed app. Our server adds a two-letter country code derived from the request and whether the device is a phone or a desktop, and stores just those fields. No cookie is set, no identifier is generated, and neither your IP address nor your user agent is stored, so no record can be tied back to you. We only ever query these records in aggregate (for example minutes played per language). Because it does not identify or follow anyone, it runs for everyone, with or without cookie consent.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, collects aggregate, cookieless traffic statistics (such as requests per country) to serve and protect the site. These do not identify you.

The daily puzzle email (only if you ask for it)

We may offer a daily email with a link to the day's puzzle. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the language and difficulty you chose, when you subscribed and confirmed, and the date of the last email sent. Nothing else. Nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link we email you, so nobody can sign you up. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and your mail app's own unsubscribe button works too. When you unsubscribe, or if your address bounces, sending stops immediately and the record is deleted within 30 days; an unconfirmed request is deleted after 7 days. The emails are delivered through Resend, our email provider; they contain no tracking pixels. The address is never shared, sold or used for anything else.

Advertising

No advertisements are shown today. If ads are ever added, they will follow the same rule as everything else here: no ads over the board, no interstitials, and no personalised ads without your consent. Any ad provider will be named in this policy before it is enabled.

Changing your choice

To withdraw or grant consent later, clear this site's data in your browser (which removes the stored choice) and the banner will appear again on your next visit.

Children

The site does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. The kids' puzzles set no cookies and store nothing about you; like every other puzzle they only send the anonymous play-time event described above.
